Laser Marking of Lead and Lead Alloys

Laser marking systems can produce surface areas that reflect multiple shades of gray, white and black. Examples of applications include the identification of cored stick anodes, ingots, and counterweights. The identification may include text, logos, barcodes, data matrix codes, and QR codes).

Why Use Laser Technology for Lead Marking?

Fast &
Reliable

Laserax laser marking systems are made for high-speed applications. They can efficiently and rapidly mark lead and lead alloys, even in the harshest environments.

Permanent & High-Contrast Marks

Laser marking lead generates high-contrast marks through an optimized process that creates black marks on a white background.

Laser marked identifiers on metal surfaces are of high quality. Their legibility won’t be substantially affected after shotblasting as well as various other surface treatments.

No Consumables & Low Maintenance

Laser machines for marking metals require no consumables and very low maintenance, thanks to fiber laser technology.

Understanding Laser Lead Marking

Laser etching metal is done with a high energy pulse. It melts the metal, removing a thin layer of material from the surface. Lead is a material on which it is possible to generate black and white pixels.

Black and white surfaces do not scatter light the same way. The white areas are produced by a surface texture of smaller amplitude, which creates a diffuse reflection. The black areas are produced by a surface texture of greater amplitude that increases the amount of light absorbed by the material.
