This mark could be applied to assign serial numbers, barcodes or logos. Laser marking systems also allow deep engraving in ceramics. Such operations would be very difficult to realize with contact technology because of the brittle behavior of most ceramics. CO2 laser or fiber lasers work well for marking and engraving ceramics.
