The Laserax team was present at GIFA 2019—the world’s most important trade fair for the metallurgy and casting industries—from June 25 to 29. Our team members had the opportunity to showcase our laser marking and laser cleaning machines to industry experts from all around the world.

Here are three highlights of our discussions with casting and metallurgy experts and of their concerns for their productions lines in the auto industry.

The Next Big Challenge for Production Lines

Many visitors were curious about our solution for marking parts as soon as they’re created. The next big challenge for their production lines is indeed implementing complete traceability, which often means that they must mark parts as soon as they’re out of the mold.

Our laser experts had the chance to discuss with them how they could implement our laser marking machines in their upcoming production lines, and this, without affecting throughput.

Visitor Reactions to Shotblast Resistant Marking

Data Matrix Code Before After ShotblastVisitors at our booth had the opportunity to see for themselves the final result of shotblast resistant laser marking, a Laserax patent-pending process. Our team had brought parts that had been laser marked and then shotblasted. Alex Fraser, our Vice President and CTO, said that he loved seeing visitors’ reactions when they realized the implications of shotblast resistant marking for traceability.

A Surprising Interest in Wheel Cleaning Applications

A surprising reaction was the strong interest of wheel manufacturers for laser cleaning. Eric Pelletier, our Marketing and Business Development Director, said that “members of the auto industry were really interested in laser cleaning for wheel cleaning applications.” If you could not meet us at GIFA, watch this video on wheel cleaning:
